| | | Biofuels As one of the world's leading producers and exporters of oil and gas, interest and demand for biofuel remains limited in Russia. While alternative energy has entered the Russian consciousness, there has been no activity at the federal level regarding biofuels. However, there is growing activity at the regional level. The number of biofuel production facilities has increased, as has production of biofuel raw materials for export (including wooden pellets, rapeseed, and rapeseed oil). The emerging Russian biofuel industry is driven primarily by growing demand for biofuel in Europe. Current production volumes of bio-fuel sources are still small.
