| | | Dairy Milk production is expected to increase by three percent in 2007. The total number of dairy cattle will remain flat, and the Ministry of Agriculture states, that an increase in herds is not necessary. Management improvement is needed, as per-cow efficiency is low. Milk consumption in 2006 lagged behind the recommended level as milk supplies are lower than demand. Dairy imports were not sufficient to close the gap between demand and domestically produced dairy products.
